MONACO DI BAVIERA CLASSIC

THE ROUTE

THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE

Monaco di Baviera Classic 2025 takes you through the most iconic passes and breathtaking locations in Bavaria, Austria, and northern Italy. Are you ready for the ride of a lifetime? Start with the "base" route of 1,288 km and 23,230 meters of elevation, aiming to conquer as many virtual checkpoints as you can (minimum of 2) within the time limit. There are 10 checkpoints in total, allowing you to extend your ride to 1,581 km with 30,670 meters of climbing if you capture them all. The more checkpoints you get, the better your ranking will be, based first on the number of checkpoints and then on the time taken.

ROUTE PREVIEW

ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS

Start from Munich

The challenge starts flat so you can prepare for what is coming. Just enjoy the bike-lines and secondary roads of Bavaria!

CP1: Eng Alm

First optional checkpoint enters in Austria and rides through the beautiful Rißtal valley until Eng Alm (1.250m). Totally worth it!

Reschenpass

You will arrive to Italy through Reschenpass (1.502m), riding the bike-line which accompanies the gorgeous Resia lake

Passo dello Stelvio

Nicknamed as "His Majesty", the king is here. With 2.757m above see level, Stelvio Pass is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps. 24,9Km, 1.846m, 7,4% average. Hopefully with no traffic at all again. Just enjoy!

Sentiero Valtellina

The route covers more than 400 Km of the best paved bike paths. The Sentiero Valtellina segment, connecting Bormio with Mazzo di Valtellina along the Adda river ist just amazing.

Passo del Mortirolo

Maybe the most iconic and historical pass from Giro d'Italia. The pass will be climbed again from Mazzo di Valtellina, the most demanding and traditional Mortirolo's side (12,2 Km at 10,7%)

CP2 Passo Gavia

The second Checkpoint is a must-do. The legendary climb until 2.621m from Ponte di Legno is challenging, spectacular and rewarding in equal measure. Will you be able to conquer it and add a new checkpoint on your list?

Passo Tonale

Another historical climb, it makes 30 Km with 1.200m climbing if you count from all the way down at Edolo.

CP3 & CP4 Garda lake

Doing the loop from Trento until the iconic Garda lake and back you will enjoy great bike-paths and you will add two more checkpoints. Do you have time for a power nap along the lake?

Ciclabile Valsugana

Another beautiful bike line from Pergine until Borgo Valsugana to warm up for the Dolomites.

Passo Manghen

22,9 Km, 1.656m climbing with 7,2% average until 2.047m. Expect incredible landscapes and views, specially during the last 7 Kilometers through the narrow road.

Ciclabile Val di Fiemme e Fassa

38 km of marked bike line between Molina de Fiemme and Fontanazzo. One of our favourites!

Passo Sella & Passo Gardena

Climbing from Canazei, you will conquer both passes in just 10 Km at 2.000m above see level, with most of the best views in the Dolomites.

CP5 Passo Pordoi

After Passo Campolongo you arrive to the third Checkpoint (Passo Pordoi, 2.239m). Spectacular climb from Arabba and one of the most famous climbs at Giro d'Italia. Will you be able to add it to your list?

CP6 Passo Valparola

You will conquer both magnificent passes Passo Falzarego and Passo Valparola by adding the fourth checkpoint.

CP7 Passo Fedaia - Marmolada

Another checkpoint until the legendary pass along Fedaia lake (2.057m). Stunning!

Passo Giau

A true legend of the Giro d'Italia, the climb goes again until more than 2.200m above see level. Sure you will enjoy the views during the climb and on the top!

CP8 Tre Cime Lavaredo

Do you still have some energy? Behold the iconic Misurina Lake and climb until Rifugio Auronzo, where you will enjoy the legendary Tre Cime Lavaredo view

Sella Ciampigotto

Sella Ciampigotto and Sella di Razzo are probably not as famous as other passes in the area, but same as beautiful and calm. Perfect to ride!

Monte Zoncolan

Considered the toughest climb of the cycling grand tours, ahead of Angliru or Alpe D'Huez, this climb is worth to live once in life.

Alpe Adria Radweg

The Alpe Adria Radweg is not just a bike line but an astonishing experience as you will ride through tons of bridges and tunnels which makes it feel like you were in a theme park.

CP9 Edelweißspitze

The Edelweißspitze is the highest paved point on the Großglockner Alpine Road (2.571 m) in Austria. Another must-do as you will climb until the Hochtor pass just before!

CP10 Kitzbüheler Horn

The last Checkpoint is probably one of the most challenging and gorgeous climbs of the entire route. It combines the perfect summary of MdBC: hard and beauty in the highest levels. Professional cyclists climb it until 1.670m but of course we ride until the very top at 1.996m. Expect some major ramps (>25%) there. Be sure to close the door when you enter the cow area!

Finish in Munich

The finish line awaits you before the sunset at 28.06.2025 to become MdBC25 finisher and to inscribe your name in the Hall of Fame. We will be waiting for you!
